How To Handle A Malware Attack

The best way to handle a malware attack is to prevent it from happening in the first place by

  • Regularly updating your system's Operating System
  • Avoiding clicking on phishing links
  • Use two-factor authentication
  • Download apps and software from only trusted sources
  • Use strong passwords or password manager

However, when an actual malware attack is noticed on your computer or network, start by running a full system scan on your system by using an anti-virus and anti-malware program such as Kaspersky and Norton. Take the necessary action as the software will guide you. If the virus is still unable to delete after this, then the next step to take is to restore the system to the last backup to remove this threat entirely.

Another method is by removing all the temporal files on the system. But in a situation where the attack is a lock screen attack where the system files can no longer be accessed, try booting up the system in safe mode, this will prevent some files from coming up which will help to prevent interruptions.

The best way to prevent an attack remains to be cyber aware and regularly preventing any cases of attacks from happening as listed above in order never to find youself in such a situation.
